Meet Dr. Katz

Gregory J. Katz, M.D. is a board-certified, fellowship-trained ophthalmologist at Huron Ophthalmology, serving patients in Ann Arbor. Dr. Katz specializes in cataract surgery and the treatment of glaucoma.

Dr. Katz is a graduate of the University of Illinois Medical School and completed his residency at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary. His fellowship in glaucoma was performed at the University of Michigan. He has been in practice with Huron Ophthalmology since 1994. Dr. Katz is involved in multiple clinical drug and surgical trials looking at better ways to treat glaucoma.  He has lectured extensively at local, state, national and international meetings.

Dr. Katz is a consultant to the State of Michigan’s Bureau of Health Professions, Medical Director of Utilization Management for BCBS of Michigan, and serves on the FDA’s division of Ophthalmic Devices.  He is a Committee Chair for the American Board of Ophthalmology’s Examination Development Committee, which writes the questions for the Ophthalmology Board Examination.  He has also performed hundreds of cataract and glaucoma surgeries on numerous mission trips to West Africa and India.
